Food Banks Canada represents the network of food banks in Canada. Founded in 1987, Food Banks Canada’s network is made up of 10 Provincial Associations and over 550 local food banks. The organization’s mission is to provide national leadership to relieve hunger today and prevent hunger tomorrow in collaboration with the food bank network in Canada. – 5.3% of people assisted by the food bank are 65+ years of age (Reference: HungerCount2016).
– 16.1% of the Canadian population make up of 65 years of age and older. Also 1/3 are children and 12% are people that are employed (Reference: HungerCount2016)..

Just two years later, Winnipeg became Habitat for Humanity Canada’s first local Habitat. Today, Habitat Canada is a leading national non-profit, with 56 local Habitats working in every province and territory. With the help of these local Habitats, volunteers, and Habitat homeowners, Habitat Canada has provided a solid foundation for thousands of families to lead better, healthier lives in Canada and around the world.
